About Meghan

Meghan De Pinto-Smith is a Senior Associate with extensive experience in Industrial Relations and Employment Law. Having practised exclusively in this field for over six years at a specialist boutique firm in Brisbane, she has recently returned to Mackay to be closer to family while continuing to provide high-level legal support to employers. Meghan is dedicated to advising organisations of all sizes on managing workplace legal and compliance issues. Her expertise includes developing employment policies and procedures, drafting employment contracts and enterprise agreements, and guiding clients on strategies to minimise legal risks associated with workforce management. She regularly represents employers in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission, Human Rights Commission, QCAT and the Federal Court. Meghan has also contributed to the Fair Work Commission’s Award modernisation process, demonstrating a strong ability to balance employer interests with regulatory and union considerations. In addition to her legal practice, Meghan is an experienced presenter and author, frequently delivering seminars and webinars on employment law topics. She has been involved in chairing HR Law Masterclass Conferences and has contributed to various legal publications. Meghan holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Queensland, completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Queensland University of Technology, and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2016. Her areas of assistance include employment arrangements, enterprise agreements, employee management, protection of intellectual property and confidential information, workplace health and safety, investigations, claims for unpaid wages and entitlements, employment aspects of business sales and acquisitions, discrimination, harassment and bullying matters, termination of employment including redundancy, unfair dismissal and general protections claims, organisational restructuring, restraint of trade issues, workers’ compensation and workplace training.
